A Journey with Project Partners in the Free State

Recently, we had the privilege of spending time with our incredible project partners in the Free State.

At Lesedi Educare, we met a dedicated team committed to providing quality early learning programmes to vulnerable children through playgroups. Their passion is truly inspiring! In Khayelitsha, Bloemfontein, we witnessed the amazing dedication of facilitators and the Lesedi team firsthand. We also learned about Lesedi’s food security project, helping parents provide for their families with sustainable organic gardens.

At the University of the Free State, we had a fantastic face-to-face meeting with our 2024 bursary recipients – the first since Covid-19. These students are incredibly motivated and goal-driven, overcoming obstacles to pursue their dreams.

We visited Tsepang Educare Trust in Bethlehem and were blown away by the dedication at Masakhane Child Care Centre. Despite challenges, they provide a vital service to their community.

In Kanana, Orkney, North West, we visited ECD centres supported by Ntataise Trust. These practitioners do amazing work with limited resources, but they need more support in terms of funding and infrastructure. We were inspired by Vuyani Pontsa at Happy Hearts ECD Centre, showing that males can excel in early childhood education too! His dedication and love for the children were truly heartwarming.

At Bokamoso Educare centre in Makwallo Location, Vredefort, we were truly astonished by the beautiful building with stunning murals. Dora did amazingly well to construct a building with beautiful wooden floors, unique ceilings and murals in every classroom for her 163 children.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our partners for graciously opening their doors and spending valuable time with us this week.
