Mfundo Zeka: A Journey of Service
In the heart of the Eastern Cape lies a small rural village called Zitapile in Matatiele, where Mfundo Zeka’s journey began. Raised by loving parents who instilled in him the values of love, resilience, and community, Mfundo’s childhood was joyful despite the challenges. He attended Mkhuhlane-Kop Junior Secondary School and later Mount Currie Senior Secondary School in Kokstad, where he completed his Grade 12. 
Educational Pursuits and Inspirations
Moving to Butterworth, Mfundo pursued Office Management and Technology at Walter Sisulu University of Technology. It was here that his passion for working with young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, flourished. Inspired by his former teacher, Ms Penn, and the selfless actions of Mother Teresa, Mfundo aspired to make a positive impact on society.
A Commitment to Service and Empowerment
Joining the ASAP Foundation Trust, Mfundo embarked on a journey of creativity, growth, and empowerment. He quickly rose through the ranks, starting as the Youth Coordinator and later becoming the Community Development Coordinator. Today, he serves as the Head of Food Security, where he piloted a groundbreaking program in nine villages.
Mfundo’s innovative approach transformed traditional farming methods, introducing the Permaculture Method and providing valuable training to farmers. Through his leadership, villages lacking water now have boreholes and once-barren gardens are thriving and fenced.
A Legacy of Giving Back
Mfundo’s dedication to his community goes beyond his professional responsibilities. He believes in the power of giving back, whether through youth camps, school holiday programmes, or home visits to families in need. His actions inspire others and spread love and hope throughout the community.

For Mfundo, being a man means being self-aware, confident, and compassionate towards others. His commitment to breaking the chains of inequality and empowering others reflects his deep sense of purpose and integrity.
